Another game that Abstractians play is Block the Road.

Block the Road is related to Road Rage in that the defeat conditions are the same:

  • (A) Die. That’s a total loss.

  • (B) Fall outside the law. That’s a major loss. To “fall outside the law” is to incur a serious risk of life-altering legal consequences.

  • (C) Fail to retain a sense of control. That’s a minor loss.

Traditionally, Block the Road is played one-against-group. As the game begins, the objective of Group is to retain a sense of control by preventing Player, for some period (of a duration unknown to Player), from doing what he has a legal right to do.

Player’s objective is to end the game as quickly as possible.

Group does not fall outside the law by merely impeding the player from doing what he has a legal right to do. Whether a move is likely to put Player outside the law depends in part on how smart the move is—the smarter the move, the less likely it is to result in life-altering legal consequences.
