When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is get out of our own way.
Being a criminal defense attorney is no place for ego.
If you have one, or need that kind of validation, there are plenty of other legal careers to fit your fancy where a big ego and the need for constant validation are more easily satisfied, or are at least not an active detriment to your practice.
But as a defender, you do not matter. Your client is the only thing that matters or will ever matter about your representation. If you can serve the client’s needs by abasing yourself in front of the jury and begging for mercy, dust off your kneepads.
But can you win a case by simply getting out of your own way?
